If you diagnose with galacoma ( eye disease) is it mean your eye is dead? technicly?

3 days ago, I visited the doctor and he told me I have glaucoma in my right eye. Even though I was blind for that eye. But, I hoped I will get some treatment someday and I can see again. But, when the doctor told me I have glaucoma I shocked and I thought my eye is dead, I asked him. He said, “Your eye is fine” I think he meant just calm me down. What you guys think I’m frustrated badly@
